into the garden | lifestyle family photographer content day by hannah from alabama
PART ONE
Did someone say, cottagecore?!
This summer, I was able to host my very first Lifestyle Family Photographer Content Day. Content days designed for family photographers are not common at all, and I was so excited and eager to try something different.
This content day was created to remain intimate and cozy with only 6 tickets sold. Keeping it intentionally small hopefully allowed everyone creative elbow room and the space to stretch out and get immersed in the shoot. It also gave everyone the opportunity to learn from and be inspired by six other creatives!
The concept of “Into the Garden” was dreamed up during the January 2024 ice storm, and while it took me some time to smooth out all the details and get this idea off the ground, I am so proud of how this all came together.
One of the biggest obstacles was finding the right location that fit the bill perfectly! I was dead-set one finding a hobby-farm with a luscious garden, possibly a handful of farm animals that also had a covered porch space. I wanted to encapsulate the feeling of a barefoot june morning and while it took a lot of scouring, I finally came across the cutest hobby farm airbnb in North Huntsville. Deborah, the owner, was so kind and so welcoming for our content day group, and I am so grateful that she allowed us to take over her property for a few hours one morning.
My personal vision for the photographs were to emulate analog film— a sprinkle of grain, shallow depths of field, the occasional motion blue + rich highlights. Nostalgic.
I also wanted the shoot to be challenging, but in a fun “pushing-the-comfort-zone” kind of way, by scheduling the session in the mid morning hours with higher directional light. The elongated family session starts at 9:15AM and wrapped up right around 11:45AM.
Part Two will be up soon! Stay tuned!
